DRUM MAJORS
We don't always say drum major,
but when we do, non-band kids always ask what drums we play.

FUN FACT
All three drum majors are in their last year of marching band

"My experience as a Marching Miner has been amazing so far. Starting my first year with Capshaw and my second year with Dr. Hunter has been a fun and great experience. I’ve made plenty of friends that I never thought I would ever meet and have learned some pretty interesting shows. I am looking forward to marching another year with the marching miners alongside a great team of leadership and friends."

JACQUELINE MENDOZA
Drum Major
Saxophone
Major: Post-Bachelors Sci. Studies
"When joining the Marching Miners, I was very hesitant. I came in pretty late in the game but I don't regret any of it. I started off as just a regular member of the band and over the years, I have taken on new leadership roles from section leader, to assistant to a current drum major. the experience has helped me grow a lot as a person and as a musician. I love the band program but most importantly, the people. Traditions have been made within that wonderful group and I love everyone of those guys."

PETER PARRA
Drum Major
Tuba
Major: Music Education
"These last two years with the Marching Miners have been a great experience. My first year was amazing becuase I got to learn under a new director as well as getting to meet and work with different people I had never met. My second year was even better because I was able to do my part for the band as a section leader. Now that I'm a drum major, I get to do my part not only for just one section, but I plan to work with my fellow drum majors to do everything we can to maintain the success if the UTEP Marching Miners."
